Westfield Group selected ADA to relocate the Gateway Mall food court and design additional updates to the west mall area. It was an ambitious undertaking that included an addition to Lincoln’s landmark mall, a new entrance, re-configuration of the west parking lot, and installation of a new ceiling and floor covering from the north end of the mall by Dillard’s and Younkers to the south entrance. The new food court is a popular destination for shoppers and, in addition to popular food tenants, includes an open and airy commons area for seating, two new public restrooms, a family lounge, and the center court – the centerpiece of which is a hand-carved Italian carousel. The mall was in full operation during the project, so construction was carefully phased for minimum impact on tenants and customers. A total area of nearly 120,000 square feet was involved in this remodel and addition.
